Cuteness in Japanese culture:
Since the 1970s, cuteness, in Japanese kawaii (可愛い), has become a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture, entertainment, clothing, food, toys, personal appearance, behavior, and mannerisms. Foreign observers often find this cuteness intriguing, revolting or even childish because the Japanese employ it in a vast array of situations and demographics.

  1. Japanese people can make anything cute. Even their comics (manga) are cute.
